In The News gunk this morning: Alcohol prices.

The government have decided that the best way to tackle the rising drink problem is to increase the minimum price per unit of alcohol… no seriously they think that will work. 

The British Medical Association are backing the move that could see the minimum price for a unit of booze rise to 50p per unit… no seriously they think that will work.

The net effect would be that some of the cheapest alcoholic products available from supermarkets could go up by as much as 100%… good lord!... No seriously they think that will work... really?

In The News gunk today is the tale of two teenagers who, just for fun, beat a pensioner unconscious in front of his three year old granddaughter. The victim (Ekram Haque) died later in hospital from injuries sustained during the attack.

Apparently the boys (14 and 15 at the time) who were convicted of manslaughter will be free in about 18 months time.  Now while the sentencing issues are obviously the leading topic in the papers and are rightfully distressing for the victim’s loved ones, there is another issue which will probably go unmentioned...

If you wanted kids you'd try for them right (personally I love the trying bit), but what if that trying turned out to be fruitless, how long would you keep trying?

Five years seem like a fair amount?

What about ten years?

Desperate enough to wait twenty years?

Well in the news or something today is the story of Bhateri Devi a woman from India who just became the worlds oldest woman to give birth to triplets… and she did so at the ripe old age of 66.  Yep that's right her and her husband (who’s a sprightly 64) have just spawned for the first time.
