braingunk would like to congratulate one of our favourite writers, Alex Scarrow, who recently picked up The Calderdale Children's Book of the Year Award for the first book of his teen read series "Time Riders".

The award was introduced to encourage children to read and to generate interest and excitement about books and reading for pleasure.

Most importantly though, it's an award which is actually decided by the target readers themselves.

Congratulations once again Alex, great work.
